Lay Workers
Lay Workers are non-ordained persons who have felt the desire and willingness to work for the Lord in expanding the mission of the Church in a congregation, parish, district or board of the Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA).
Areas of work may include youth and family ministry, outreach programs, Christian education, assisting pastors, parish nursing, camp management, chaplaincy, internship, welfare ministry, and music/worship programs.

Board for Lay Ministry
The Board for Lay Ministry has the overall responsibility of the wellbeing of lay workers in the church.
This includes supporting lay workers, liaising with Australian Lutheran College regarding education and training programs, and providing financial support.
The Board maintains a roll and register of all lay workers in the LCA, advises on salaries and allowances and administers the long service leave fund.
