If a Christian dies unexpectedly, was it God’s plan? This is not a new question. It is a variation of the old question: why do bad things happen to God’s people? The question is asking whether God is the cause of premature death - premature from a human point of view, of course. This is really just one aspect of the larger question: does God cause evil or disaster?
